Mr. Chompers’ Story Great Dane
Mr. Chompers came into our lives in November 2013. He was adorably cute and the only time he has been tiny. Our 10 lb. puppy had ears bigger than his head. 120 lbs. Later, he still has his playfulness and mischievous behavior. Mr. Chompers is frequently found running leash free at the dog park. As Ornery as he can be, it is surpassed by his loving and sweet nature. There is hardly a moment he is seen without a smile on his face or his tongue hanging out! Mr. Chompers’ growing presents has become a very large shadow around the house, even following us to the bathroom! He’s giving me extra love right now as we are separated from Daddy while he is serving our country on deployment. Mr Chompers loves to support Daddy while he hogs the entire computer when we Skype!
Stewie's Story Chihuahua
Hello! I’m 2 years old and named after the mischievous animated toddler from Family Guy. I live with my biological mother, Peanut. My two sisters also found homes within our family, so I get to see them all the time. I do have a bad boy reputation, but to my defense, I am still a puppy at heart. I lead a lavish lifestyle in San Diego, CA and have created a utopia of toys and treats. But life wasn’t always this way. When my mommy was giving birth to me after my first sister, there were complications. I was stuck in her tummy and we were rushed to the vet for life saving surgery. The vet said I was “a bit chubby” and that’s why I got stuck. In the end, we were all ok. My mom loves to run after Frisbee and I love running after her! My second chance has inspired me to chew as many toys as I can, and mark every fire hydrant in my path!
Lovie Dovie’s Story Terrier / Chinese Crested mix
Pregnant, gravely under weight and only 1 ½ years old, this sweet dog was abandoned at an animal shelter in Los Angeles. In her last hours, she was rescued by a dedicated foster mom. Four days later, she gave birth, and sweetly nurtured her three puppies. Six weeks later, a woman was interested in adoption one of the puppies. The moment the woman met this sweet mom she changed her mind. By the look in each others eyes, they both knew they were meant to be together. A life long bond was instantly realized and she was given a new name, Lovie Dovie. Unable to walk on a leash, jump up on the couch, or sniff in the backyard, her transformation slowly began. Lovie Dovie now walks perfectly on a leash, jumps up, and literally has a skip in her step. Whatever happened in her past, Lovie Dovie left it all behind her. She moved forward with joy and appreciation. She is truly a Lovie Dovie!
Lentil’s Story Boston Terrier
Her uncommon red and white coloring is not the only exceptional aspect of Lentil. This 10 month old bundle of love and joy visits everyone at the park looking for belly rubs. Lentil causes people to “double take” when they see her for the first time as they instantly fall in love with her. Her parents are constantly sought out by people trying to figure out who her family is so they can ask questions. Lentil loves spending time at home with her sister, Yoshi, the Pug and Thurston, the Scottish Fold. She has never met a stranger and she is the first to the door to greet arriving guests. There is never a moment Lentil does not have a smile on her face! Her sweet, outgoing personality brightens every situation and Lentil keeps everyone on their toes!
Peanut’s Story Chihuahua
Hi! My name is Peanut and I am a three year old princess. I was rescued one day by a man who stumbled upon a box labeled, “free puppies” at a neighborhood yard sale. He was browsing through second hand stuff looking for treasures and found me. He inquired to the lady in charge and the next thing I know, he took me home and gave me to his daughter. I live in San Diego and the proud mother of Molly, Stewie and Apple. My three offspring live with other family members so I get to see them all the time. My favorite past time is retrieving my special tiny Frisbee just like a big dog! I also love walks with my mom and dad. I am blessed to have a great family that spoils me to no end. All I have to do is look cute and I get whatever I want.
Chloe’s Story Maltese Poodle mix
Chloe was found abandoned and nursing a litter of puppies on the street before taken to the El Cajon, California Animal Shelter. Someone had spray painted her pink! The very moment we had our “meet and greet”, Chloe jumped into my lab and has been there ever since. At first, she was scared and aggressive towards kids and other dogs. With love, understanding and kindness, Chloe is now the most loving and secure dog. Chloe has brought our family so much happiness and the perfect mate to our other dog, Murphy. Just picture two peas in a pod! She adores walks, dog parks, and of course, car rides. Her smile makes you smile and she shares it with everyone. While at work, I think about coming home to see her. Chloe now expresses herself by jumping into my arms while I am standing. She and I both agree that is where she belongs.
Fairy Princess’ Story Chihuahua
Three pounds, extremely skeletal, homeless and hiding under bushes at a high school, she was picked up by the Country Animal Shelter. Her cage had a sign on the bars that warned, “I bit. I growl.” Three people signed up to adopt her that next Saturday or she would be euthanized. Discouraged that she may already be adopted, the third person showed up to find out the first two people no showed. When the woman first held this tiny Chihuahua telling her she had a forever home, the Chihuahua flipped onto her back. The woman immediately called her daughter, who named her Fairy Princess. Barely bigger than a soup can, we were soon amazed as her personality emerged over the next couple of months. Fairy Princess loves taking walks, inner tubing down the river, swimming in the lake, and getting smuggled into the movie theater under her girl’s sweatshirt. Her dream would be if the entire family stayed in bed all day and she could just go bed hopping!
Marley’s Story Labrador Retriever
It started out just “Marley and Me.” in April 2005, a two year old black Lab was residing at an animal shelter. She immediately caught my eye with her cool, calm, curious demeanor. From the moment I knew we had found a best gal pal in each other. Marley’s “Zen” energy was exactly the inspiration, love and hope I needed for my recently broken heart. With my current situation and Marley finding a forever home outside the shelter, we soon began experiencing joy and exhilaration amongst the waters of dog beach and the grassy dog park. Then, Matt came into our lives. As Matt and my love developed, he quickly realized Marley and Me were a packaged deal. Marley soon became part of Matt’s daily life while I was in grad school. Marley’s new routine was going to matt’s insurance office, taking breaks to play ball and walks in the canyon. Now we were three. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Lola a bay carriage! Since her arrival, marley continues to impress us with her deeper maternal and protective instincts carefully listening to our little ones sounds, smells and movements. Marley is sure to wake up Mommy if baby is crying. That’s our Marley! Good girl Marley J!
Brought to an animal shelter right after birth in 2012, Tigger was bottle fed in a foster home. After 6 weeks, he was bought back to the shelter. He immediately stood out as an exceptional feline and was adopted that very day. Tigger was given as a Christmas gift to a very deserving daughter. He enjoys sitting on top of a basket of clean laundry and his favorite pastime is to play wrestle with the dog. Tigger is very good about letting us know when he wants his ears scratched and he has learned to only scratch his post. He loves walking across the computer keyoard and watching paper come out of the printer. Tigger is a good boy and appreciated everyday!
Murphy’s Story Schnauzer / Terrier mix
Found wandering the streets of Spring Vally, CA, Murphy landed in an animal shelter. Rescued from the shelter two years ago, he started his new forever home with lots of insecurities. He would only sleep in his crate alone. Slowly, with patience and love, we watched the new Murphy emerge into his full potential! He now loves to sleep with his human parents and adores cuddling with mom. This special guy has the most amazing personality and he smiles when his parents say “doggie park?” Murphy loves to run around the park greeting all dogs and humans alike with his canine sister, Chole. Murphy has that “it factor that catches everyone’s eye. His appreciation and infectious joy for life is a gift to anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Life would not be the same without our Murphy!
